From being a senior captain on the women’s lacrosse team to being editor-in-chief of the school paper, senior Avery Ehrman has made the most of her time at R.J. Reynolds. She has been a member of Girl’s Council (GC), joining her sophomore year and becoming social media manager her senior year.

“I have met such great people and spent a lot of time serving my community, which has been so rewarding,” Ehrman said. “GC has truly given me my best friends!”

A handful of friendships also came from playing lacrosse. Ehrman has played since her freshman year, and she became captain of the team her senior year. She has had many memorable experiences throughout her four seasons on the team.

“My favorite memory is scoring my first goal against Mount Tabor my freshman year,” Ehrman said. “It was one of the first games I got a decent amount of playing time, so I was super nervous. I have such a vivid memory of my teammate Ellie running up and giving me the biggest hug. It was such a special moment for me.”

Next year, Ehrman is headed off to UNC-Chapel Hill to major in journalism. She also plans to participate in their lacrosse program.

“I really hope to write for the newspaper there, The Daily Tar Heel,” Ehrman said. “I am also hoping to continue playing lacrosse on either their club or recreation team. UNC has been my dream school my entire life, so this is a really big deal for me!”
