Senior Olivia Stubbs really is the model student of the 2025 graduating class. Her friends and peers describe her as hardworking and caring, not only does she have great character, but she is also extremely well-rounded. She has committed herself to hours of service through her roles as president of RJR Girls Council and Students Demand Action, all while maintaining the time to play field hockey every fall.

Following her time at RJR, Stubbs is headed to the University of Virginia, to major in chemistry and possibly political science. She’s leaving behind a legacy of service at RJR, which will be carried on by the members of not one but two service clubs that she leads.

“Being president of the Girl’s Council has been a lot of work, but it’s been very rewarding,” Stubbs said. “We had a lot of new members join this year, which was really exciting, and we have completed a lot of service as a club. Overall, I’ve just really enjoyed leading the whole group.”

There is no doubt that Stubbs is passionate about service and the impact that she has on her community. For some, speaking up for what you believe in can be scary, but for Stubbs, it comes naturally.

“In 10th grade, I joined Students Demand Action because I was really passionate about it, and I still am very passionate about it,” Stubbs said. “We worked with the Reagan SDA group to argue in favor of a secure gun storage resolution to the school board, and that passed, which was really exciting.”

Preparing for college starts long before senior year, and the actual application process can be extensive and very stressful. Finding a good school that caters to your interests and needs can be difficult, but nonetheless, Stubbs met her match with UVA. Stubbs’s next chapter of college will surely entail tons of new experiences and great opportunities.

“I’m looking forward to being around people who are really passionate about things that matter to them,” Stubbs said. “The students at UVA really want to make a difference, which is something that I’ve tried to do at Reynolds and also want to continue to do in the future.”

Even though Stubbs is filled with nothing short of excitement as she is soon to be UVA-bound, leaving behind the community she has built here is nevertheless difficult.

“I’m going to miss being in the community that we have here at Reynolds,” Stubbs said. “I really have had a good experience here, and I have appreciated being around so many different people with different experiences, beliefs, and ideas.”
