Whether you’re craving ice cream, a pastry, or a cookie, these local spots in Winston-Salem have what you need. Bobby Boy Bakeshop, Camino Bakery, Cafe Gelato, The Remedy, and Dream Kreams. All of these places can satisfy your sweet tooth whilst staying close.

Supporting local businesses is important when it comes to staying close to your community, and sometimes you might discover hidden gems in town.

One of those gems is Cafe Gelato, a locally owned spot with two locations. One is very close to the R.J. Reynolds High School campus, while the second offers a wider range of options, including gelato floats and bubble tea. The shop is comfortably small and welcoming, making it perfect for an after-school treat or a casual date.

“I like that they have seasonal options for things,” sophomore Cadence Smith said. “It’s always good quality, and I feel like it’s affordable.”

Just down Reynolda Road, you’ll find Bobby Boy Bakeshop. Extremely popular with Winston locals and RJR students, this bakery on the corner of Reynolda and Buena Vista serves a variety of dessert options that all hold a fancy appearance and will satisfy your sweet tooth. You can pair your treat with something from their drink menu, such as a cappuccino or a house-made soda.

”I love their chocolate croissants, it feels very comfy but fancy and somewhat Parisian,” RJR senior Gabriela Morris said. “The workers are very friendly and it’s close to the campus.”

Even with dietary restrictions, Winston-Salem has options for you. One of the best is Camino Bakery. They have plenty of amazing gluten-free and dairy-free options, as well as an array of unique seasonal drinks and pastries. You could enjoy an almond croissant or a cookie the size of your face! Both of their locations have a comfortable, quiet, and homey feel, making them optimal for a late-night treat or an after-school study session with friends.

If you are looking for an open, comfortable place to study close to campus, The Remedy is an excellent choice. They offer a wide array of drinks and treats, and there is plenty of space for you and your friends to wind down and get caught up.

After a long week of classes, you should try Dream Kreams. This Black and female-owned shop has an assortment of unique ice cream flavors. The service is great, and the employees are extremely friendly!

All of these places go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and at home. So next time you’re looking for a sweet treat, give one of these local spots a try with your family or friends.
