Ethan and Evan Truzy used to do everything together, sports, classes, and so much more. They are now juniors at R.J. Reynolds High School and are both very active in extracurricular activities.  Ethan plays football in the fall and marching band in the spring. Evan plays basketball in the winter and has taken on a big role with the team this year.

Growing up the twins were always participating in sports and activities together, all the way up until their freshman and sophomore years of RJR basketball. Extracurricular activities are very important to both of them, but they understand it is necessary to strike a balance.

“I have improved tremendously as a student this year,” Ethan Truzy said. “High school has definitely slowed down for me this year, and I have been enjoying the memories that have been made.”

This year Ethan has been pushing himself to be the best student he can be, and it seems the connection the brothers have allows beneficial study sessions. They can collaborate and make sure to stay on task.

“It is great being a twin with Ethan,” Evan Truzy said. “I enjoy it, and it’s useful to have a study partner at home. The best part of being a twin is knowing there is always someone who has your back.”

Evan is enjoying the growth he has been experiencing this basketball season and is optimistic for his future.

“This season I have been really trying to focus on pushing myself mentally, so I can be successful on and off the court,” Evan said. “Whether that be pushing myself to do extra work after practice or staying up doing homework late at night.”

While Ethan had a great football season in the fall, he is ready to get back to the band room.

“I’m most definitely excited to get back out there with the band and drums line this spring,” Ethan said. “We are looking to get another first place trophy to add to the case.”

The bond the Truzy Twins have on and off the court is unbreakable. They support each other through all of the challenges they face in school and sports.

“I don’t necessarily miss playing with Evan but I miss the memories that were made while we played together,” Ethan said.I definitely enjoy having classes with Evan because we laugh a lot when we’re together.”
