Unless you live under a rock, you’re more than likely to have heard about global pop sensation Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Swift provides concertgoers an evening filled with a range of emotions from dancing and singing to crying and laughing. Whether you’re viewing the show in a sold-out stadium or from the comfort of a reclined movie theater seat, Swift provides a musical experience like no other.
Those fortunate enough to score tickets to The Eras Tour are immediately hit with a sense of community and enjoyment as soon as they step on the stadium grounds. Regardless of the venue you attend, you’ll see “Swifies” with friendship bracelets up to their elbows and decked out in a Taylor-themed outfits.
In my experience attending both the movie and concert, fans traded bracelets, made handshakes, and bonded over their shared love for Swift’s music.
As soon as the countdown appeared on screen signifying the start of the show, thousands of fans inside and outside the stadium started screaming in anticipation for Swift to appear. Once she made her way to the stage, the audience was taken on a journey through Swift’s “Eras” dating back to 2006.
Starstruck fans like myself watched the show in awe of the raw talent Swift, her backup dancers, and band brought to the stage. Through different props and sets, the entire production of the concert makes you feel like you are on stage alongside Swift.
This connection that Swift and her team are able to make in concert wasn’t lost in the movie experience. When I went to watch The Eras Tour movie, the camera movements and the way it was edited replicates the same feeling one would get when watching the stadium show.
While I was in the theater, groups of people got up to dance in front of the screen, talked with one another between songs, and overall created a positive environment, making the experience superior to other concert movies.
Another method Swifties have used to attend the Eras Tour has been through watching TikTok lives. Almost every night of a show, hundreds of fans from the audience will go live, even gaining thousands of viewers, depending on the popularity of the specific show.
Swift incorporates one acoustic song and piano song per show, both songs she plays are not on the main setlist and will not be repeated once performed. This bonding in the crowd and online of whether or not you still have a chance to see your favorite song live has left a connection through Swifties worldwide.
Tuning into a TikTok user’s live to figure out the “surprise song” of the night and being disappointed when you find out Swift sang your favorites is an experience most Swifties can relate to during the duration of this tour.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour offers fans a nostalgic trip while showcasing her growth as a musician and performer, including intricate sets, props, and choreography. The Eras Tour both in-person and in the theater will leave you disappointed with every other concert you see, it’s just that good.
