1: Robocop (1987)
Robocop is about an officer who is killed in the line of duty and is brought back to life as a robot. He fights crime and looks for the people who are responsible for his death. As he does that, he tries his best to remember who he used to be. When I first watched it, I knew it was going to be good, but I never imagined it would be this good! One thing I enjoyed about the film is Its portrayal of how honesty works within the world of Robocop. Each person either tells the truth about what’s going on, helps Robo out in whatever trouble he’s in right now, or supports him no matter what. The person who is honest with him and sticks by his side the most is his partner, Lewis. She helps him throughout the movie and sticks by his side no matter what. It’s a heartwarming movie and an action movie, so you should give it a watch.
2: Top Gun (1986)
Top Gun is about a man named Maverick who joins the Air Force and is well known because his father was in the Air Force before him. It’s a really good movie that evokes a lot of mixed emotions when first watched. Because they fly real planes, the stunts are top-notch. It’s cool seeing the character interact with other flight teams. The time and effort the filmmakers put into this classic make the film worth watching. I loved how the main characters grow on you the more you find out about their background, what they’ve gone through in their lives, and how they manage to deal with the new problems that they face in the film. It’s a really good film, and its sequel is also a great movie to watch.
3: Avatar (2009)
Avatar is another movie that pushed boundaries with visual effects. It’s about a wounded soldier who goes to the planet Pandora to start colonizing the planet because Earth is running low on a rare element that is rich on this new planet. The main character turns into an avatar of the Na’vi by using a machine to connect him to the body of an avatar. It’s interesting because the film shows how the Na’vis care about their home planet. It’s a really neat movie that explores the world of Pandora in beautiful colors and stunning visual effects that make the planet feel so real to moviegoers. It’s a heartwarming movie and is something that can change the way you see the real world. If you love movies that explore nature and culture, this movie is great because it has a lot of similarities and differences from the real world.
4: Thor Ragnarok (2017)
This movie is both serious and funny. It revolves around Thor and how he needs to try to stop his sister from destroying and enslaving the people of Asgard. It’s a great movie that explores the world of Asgard and its people and how they live in peace. The movie is great to watch with friends because it’s fun to see and laugh at what Thor does during his adventure. When I first saw it, I really liked it, and hearing the jokes was my favorite part of the film. The fight scenes are incredible, and seeing him build his team throughout the movie is really cool. Each person on the team has a major role in helping Thor to stop his sister from dooming Asgard. I loved it, and it was the best thing to see when it came out on streaming services.
5: Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Boy, oh boy do I have a good one to tell you about. This is one of the most incredible films I have ever seen with my father. The plot is amazing and the acting was really great. In the future, a machine army sends a T-1000 to stop one of the main characters, John Connors, from starting Judgment Day (The day the humans turn the tide against the machines) in the future. They build a father-son bond since the T-800 (Arnold Swartchzenegar) is showing John how to survive throughout the film. While on this journey, John Connors is accompanied by his mother, Sarah Connors, who also helps the T-800 protect her son from the T-1000. For those who haven’t watched the first one, it’s best to see it first in order to understand the context of the second installment. This movie is really great and is packed with action. Bonus points if you watch it with your dad like I did.
That’s all the films I got for you, wonderful movie watchers. I hope you enjoyed this review and give some of these films a chance. Thanks for reading this, and remember, always have snacks on deck before enjoying a movie.
